Timetable clarified for remaining steps
On June 8, 2015, lawyers for the respondents requested an extension of time from July 24 to July 31 for serving the government’s affidavit evidence. The applicant consented to the request for an extension of time.
By order dated June 9, 2015, the Court extended the time limit for serving the respondents’ affidavits to July 31, 2015 and ordered that the remaining steps in the proceeding follow the time limits set out in the Federal Courts Rules unless modified by the case management judge.
As a result, the following timetable applies:
June 15, 2015: Prime Minister to transmit a certified copy of materials considered when making the decision not to advise the Governor General to fill Senate vacancies.
June 24, 2015: Applicant to serve affidavit evidence and file proof of service
July 31, 2015: Respondents to serve affidavit evidence and file proof of service
August 20, 2015: Cross-examination on affidavits to be completed.
September 9, 2015: Applicant’s Record to be served and filed
September 29, 2015: Respondents’ Record to be served and filed
A hearing date for the application has not yet been fixed.
