On May 25, 2015, pursuant to the Reasons for Order of Mr. Justice Harrington of May 21, 2015, the Applicant served and filed an Amended Notice of Application for judicial review of the Prime Minister’s decision not to appoint Senators to fill existing vacancies in the Senate.

The Amended Notice of Application is substantially similar to the original Notice of Application for Judicial Review filed on December 4, 2014, but it contains additional details concerning the status and history of the Senate vacancies. It also removes a number of declarations sought in the original Notice of Application while maintaining a single (unamended) request for a declaration that “the Prime Minister of Canada must advise the Governor General to summon a qualified Person to the Senate within a reasonable time after a Vacancy happens in the Senate.”

The Queen’s Privy Council for Canada has also been added as an additional respondent.

A case management conference is scheduled to be held on June 1, 2015 to discuss a timetable for remaining steps in the proceeding.
